This book has been treated and does NOT have any odors. Gilded title on spine is shiny, bright and unmarred. The interior pages have NO writing, tears or creases and show very light evidence of the damp staining the page edges. Light foxing to edges of pages. Binding is firm - no loose pages or signatures. This is NOT an ex-lib or remainder. If not for the damp stains on covers would have given higher book grade since interior pages are overall unmarred. Illustration on DJ is colorful and unmarred ;however, DJ is heavily foxed/browned and with wear along folds and spine. The back flap has totally separated from cover. There are some missing chips. DJ is NOT price clipped and price is $3.95 at top. DJ in new mylar jacket. Note: We have a closed shop - so our books are not handled by public. The mobile appears unassembled, or partially assembled, with all components present, including the original flat conta…inerboard shipping box (Penguin USA, 100 Fabrite Road, Newbern TN 38059) (opened but intact), the printed assembly instructions, and the original foam pads with the original adhesive intact and the protective plastic films still affixed. Colors throughout are bright and unfaded. Some light wear from storage or handling. The shipping box has a handwritten notation ("DAHL mobile"), presumably added by a bookseller rather than issued by the publisher. The mobile features a central circular disc encircled by a wraparound band illustrated by Joseph Schindelman (dated 1991) and reading "Celebrate the World of Roald Dahl." Suspended from the disc are six double-sided hanging cards, each reproducing both earlier and more modern cover designs for Dahl's major works: Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Twits, James and the Giant Peach, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, and George's Marvelous Medicine. Illustrators represented include Quentin Blake, Nancy Ekholm Burkert, and Donald Chaffin, along with Schindelman--an unusually rich grouping of Dahl's most significant visual interpreters. The cards are suspended by black string; the mobile includes the original length of black string, still coiled around the publisher's flat cardboard spool, together with the original metal hanging hook. Unsightly stain and blemishes to one area of one side of the shipping box (see photographs). A striking and uncommon piece of Roald Dahl ephemera, produced exclusively for in-store display and never made available to the public.
