Aggiungi al carrelloRed Cloth. Condizione: Very Good Plus. No Jacket. First Edition. 134pp. 1887. First edition. 12mo. A lovely, clean, tight fresh looking very good plus or near fine copy of this scarce and collectable golfing book. The boards and spine are particularly in fine original condition. Original publisher's red cloth gilt embossed to the spine with a black blind-stamped front board with a vignette featuring two golfers. Patterned endpapers. Colour tissue-guarded frontispiece of Tom Morris and four other tinted lithographic plates all as called for. 16 blank pages (memoranda) at rear along with four pages of advertisements. Charming engraved illustrations throughout. Slight splitting to the front inner hinge - binding remains very firm with no loss of strength. Provenance - the name 'Armstrong' written in an old hand (pencil - would easily rub-out) along with a price of 2/6. Some scattered foxing - mostly to the prelims - most noticable to the preface page and the reverse of the title page and somewhat strangely pages 14 and 15. Many pages are entirely free from it. One light circular stain mark 5mm in diameter towards the outer tail of the title page, the margin of the frontispiece and the tissue guard. Nevertheless, a very good well preserved copy. You will very probably be hard pushed to find a nicer copy.
