Paper covered boards show scuffing and toning along with edge and corner bumps/wear. Front board has a loss to the finish in the lower left corner, probably from a label that was poorly removed. The internal…binding is good at the boards but there is a hinge crack at the next the last page, to where the webbing is showing. Pages are toned due to age and there is foxing and spotting present throughout. Several of the pages have small tears some also have creases. The last page is the worst with a tear in the upper left as well as near the lower right. The copyright page contains a 1928 gift inscription. The book is unpaginated and all pages have full-page color illustrations. No author or artist is listed in the book.

Eight illustrations (seven of which are in orange, black…, and white) amongst text. Still a very good- copy of an unusual Little Red Riding Hood edition albeit extremely abridged from the best known Charles Perrault and Brothers Grimm versions.

A short sampling of classic fairy tales… including: Hansel and Gretel, The Snow Queen, The False Bride, The Magic Mirror, The Story of Alnaschar, Red Riding Hood, Sinbad the Sailor, The Three Apples, The Queen of Beauty and Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. Each tale is briefly presented and there are 11 full-color chromolithographs illustrating scenes from the stories. The book's endpapers are also illustrated with 4 color illustrations of Puss 'n Boots, Snow White and other figures, set against a black cavelike background complete with orange flyling bats. A very good, bright copy with some light surface wear and soiling to the rear cover and some scuffing to the bottom edge of the front cover. The text and plates are in fine condition with some minor soiling to a few margins and a short tear to the bottom of one page. There are no marks or writing to the text. The scarce jacket is in very good complete condition with some light wear to the spine at the tips and to the front and rear flap folds. The rear panel is lightly soiled. The jacket flaps have ads for Uncle Wiggily books by Howard Garis. Uncommon in jacket and in such nice shape.
