Er setzte sich für Reformen in der Psychiatrie und die Wiedereingliederung der Kranken ein. 1918 begann er Gemälde, Zeichnungen und Skulpturen von Patienten zu sammeln, für die er 1927 in einem Pavillon von Bel-Air ein kleines Museum einrichtete. In seinen Artikeln und Vorträgen verfocht er die Meinung, dass die Geisteskrankheit künstler. Neigungen freisetzen kann. 1945 besuchte ihn Jean Dubuffet anlässlich seiner Schweizerreise.
