Im ersten Teil werden kriminologische und kriminalpolitische Probleme mit gefährlichen Straftätern aufgezeigt und die gesetzlichen Grundlagen sowie neue Theorien zur Diagnose, Behandlung und Prognose dargelegt und (kritisch) erörtert. Der zweite Teil beschreibt die Grundlagen behandlungsförderlicher Vollzugsgestaltung. Ferner wird gezeigt, wie Behandlung im Jugend- und Erwachsenenvollzug strukturiert sein kann und muß und wie sich dies zu den Ergebnissen der Wirksamkeitsstudien verhält. Es folgt ein aktueller Überblick über den Haftplatzbedarf in sozialtherapeutischen Einrichtungen sowie über Mindestkriterien, Wirkfaktoren und Indikationen.
