The author mightily denounces quackery in Chapter V, but later goes on at great lengths to emphasize the effects of morals upon personal health. Light-to-moderate rubbing of cover extremities, with miniscule tear to cloth at foot of spine. Spine darkened. Light, irregular, patchy discoloration/staining to cover cloth along margins. Rear free endpaper has been removed. Otherwise clean and tight.
