Circa 1930s-1940s (may be earlier; there are printed dates in the 1880s and written dates on the documents of the 1920s, but these documents may be transcribed typescripts taken from originals). 8 1/2" x 11." Thirteen pages. Papers are very clean and intact except for slight edge wear and wrinkling. Map has some discoloration. Very Good copies. What follows are brief descriptions of the collection's contents and respective titles, authors, page count, and dates, if available. "Recall Old Days in the Palouse: Mr. and Mrs. Henry C. Harlow of Farmington Arrived in 1873," circa 1926, one page, a brief biography of Harlow and his family and their immigration to Washington. Untitled, circa 1893-1920s, one page, a brief paragraph about E. G. Gox and finding coal in Pullman, WA. "Why 'Cashup' Davis Wanted Grave on Steptoe Butte" by Mrs. Ivan Chase, circa 1922-1926, two pages (additional clipping stapled to last page), about the famous pioneer, James S. "Cashup" Davis, whose reputation for paying and demanding payment "cash up" (hard money in cash) earned him his nickname. Untitled, circa 1882, one page, clipping about buildings destroyed by a fire in Colfax. "Son and Daughter of 'Cashup' Davis - Ferdinand A. Davis and Mrs. Frances L. McMeekin," circa 1920s, one page, about Cashup's children. "Teacher First Saw Rosalia in 1879" by Leoti L. West, circa 1926 (copy of 1926 clipping), one page, about West's impressions of Rosalia, WA. "Michael Kenney of Walla Walla: 'Was with Colonel Steptoe During Retreat; How Ammunition Gave Out," circa 1925-1925, three pages, about early Washington soldiers, including Kenney and the famous colonel after which Steptoe Butte is named.
