The life story approach allowed all of the informants to freely share their life journeys. Each of them spoke of the low points in their lives and the turning points at which their recovery began. The road to successful drug abstention was very difficult for the eight informants. Darüber hinaus wurden die Aspekte der Gospel-Drogenbehandlung identifiziert, die erfolgreich zur Drogenabstinenz beigetragen haben. Die zentrale Fragestellung der Arbeit lautete wie folgt: 'Welche Faktoren haben zu erfolgreichen Behandlungsergebnissen bei ehemaligen Konsumenten beigetragen, die an stationären Gospel-Drogenbehandlungsprogrammen teilgenommen haben ' Um diese Frage zu beantworten, wurde ein lebensgeschichtlicher Ansatz gewählt und es wurden Tiefeninterviews mit acht ehemaligen Drogenkonsumenten durchgeführt. Der lebensgeschichtliche Ansatz ermöglichte es allen Informanten, frei über ihren Lebensweg zu sprechen. Jeder von ihnen sprach über die Tiefpunkte in seinem Leben und die Wendepunkte, an denen seine Genesung begann. Der Weg zur erfolgreichen Drogenabstinenz war für die acht Informanten sehr schwierig.
