The importance of consumer protection has considerably increased due to globalization of market economy. There has been a rise in variety of products Sale of harmful goods and medicines poor quality services false claims in advertisements etc. There seems to be little concern for the consumers and it is likely to increase with transnational corporates which are coming to control the market. Although a big responsibility to protect the interest of consumers and make them aware of their rights is shared by the various voluntary organizations with the states yet there is a long way to go. The study is designed to identify problems relating to the organisation and working of the redressal agencies. To suggest appropriate improvements for toning up the work of these redressal agencies after analysing the facts and taking into account the views of the functionaries consumers and all knowledgeable persons associated with the law of consumer protection.
