Inscribed on the front free endpaper "To Doreen Feng With warmest regards and best wishes Anna Chennault," featuring a few additional characters near her signature. Doreen Feng (1923-1980) was the daughter of Chinese diplomat Chih-Tsing Feng. She was a multitalented author, painter, and sportswoman. She worked for the United States Department of Commerce, responsible for designing rural programs in fisheries and aquaculture for minority populations in Alaska. In her free time, she wrote "The Joy of Chinese Cooking," and was a respected member of the New York social scene. Signed first edition of A Thousand Springs by Anna Chennault. (illustratore). Signed.
