The book has tried to bring within its purview the research works carried on rural structure, rural functions, rural issues, rural development. It targets to reach out to teachers and researchers across disciplines, policy planners, rural activists, development activists who can develop a broad vision on the issues plaguing rural society, the nature of policy venture required by them, their resources and curses. The analysis incorporated in the book is an interdisciplinary one. ABOUT THE AUTHOR Prof. Navaneeta Rath, a professor at Utkal Univeristy, Odisha has been teaching Sociology for the last 32 years. Her area of interest pertains to Gender Studies and Development Sociology. She is actively involved in research and has given consultancy to agencies like the World Bank, the U.N.D.P. Right now, she coordinates the Global Center for Rural Studies created as a Center for Excellence under RUSA-II. She has completed around 18 projects, has published more than 50 articles in various national and international journals and has authored 5 books and edited 4 books. Dr. Rashmita Sahoo, an Asst. professor stage III has been teaching Business Administration at Utkal University for the last 11 years. Her area of interest hovers around Finance and Economics. Right now, she is the co-coordinator of the Global Center for Rural Studies created as a Center for Excellence under RUSA-II. She has published more than 50 articles in various national and international journals and has authored 2 books. Ms. Archita Bala Patra, Mr. Bishnuprasad Mohapatra, Ms. Chinmayee Mishra and Mr. Subhrajit Rath are research scholars in Sociology and Analytical and Applied Economics at Utkal University.
