Editore: RCA Victor, Camden, N.J., 1948
Da: Cat's Curiosities, Pahrump, NV, U.S.A.
Prima edizione
Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Condizione sovraccoperta: Very Good. 1st Edition. Pair of RCA Victor "Red Seal" 10-inch, 78 rpm shellac (we presume) records in original cardboard album, discs 10-1412 and 10-1413, near-mint records in a very-good cardboard jacket with some modest soiling and rub to corners. The Cantata was featured in the short-lived 1942 patriotic Broadway review "Of V We Sing." The show ran two months, closed, and the piece slipped into obscurity until revived by Merrill (of the Metropolitan Opera, but nonetheless a Dodgers fan), here, in 1948. George Kleinsinger (1914-1982) is better known as the co-author (along with Paul Tripp) of "Tubby the Tuba." Reduced from $75.

Editore: Coral Records, Inc,. a subsidiary of Decca Records, Inc., New York, 1956
Da: Cat's Curiosities, Pahrump, NV, U.S.A.
Prima edizione
No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. Not a book, but a 7-inch, 45 rpm vinyl "single" record, Coral 9-61698, "Sample Copy Not For Sale," vinyl (or more probably Styrene) very-good-plus (plays nicely with an occasional click or pop, probably as made) -- the blue label somewhat soiled. "Danny Walker" would appear to have had a fine voice -- he's confidently on-key, reminds us a bit of Nat King Cole -- but everyone involved in the production of this heavily orchestrated (lots of strings, a catchy baritone sax on "Have Mercy On a Fool") slow-dance demo seems to have been swallowed up by the earth shortly after its 1956 release. Conductor Gary Allen? Songwriters Kelly Owens and Cora Woods ("Have Mercy On a Fool Like Me") or Yale Hirsch and Gerald Gallant ("How Would You Have Me")? Try to find any data on these people; it's like they were immediately placed in the Witness Protection Program. And we seriously doubt the vocalist here is Detroit pastor Danny Walker, who joined the gospel group the Violinaires, there, in the 1990s. The tune of "Have Mercy" reminds us a bit of Gershwin's "Our Love Is Here to Stay," or (conversely) of Gus Kahn's "I'm Through With Love" -- but maybe that's the problem: it sounds sort of LIKE one of those classics of the 1930s, without actually BEING one. But this is an uncommon record, make no mistake. NOTE to our European and U.K. customers: We can generally ship one or two, 7-inch, 45 rpm records overseas, padded in a box, for the 8-ounce rate, $16. We will reduce our default shipping charge (designed to handle books of one kilo) appropriately. Shipping anything from three such 45s, to 17 such 45s, will tend to cause our package to fall between 9 oz. And 2 lbs. (0.90 kilograms.), and will thus increase our international shipping rate to $26. This 45 rpm "single" now reduced from $29.

No Binding. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. Not a book but a pair of 7-inch, 45 rpm, "single" rock 'n roll records. "Oh Pretty Woman," Monument 45-851, grades very-good-plus, plays through nicely, showing a little rub to the label. Both sides credited "Orbison-Dees." Hey, how many records from 1964 still get regular airplay, and became the basis for both a film (Julia Roberts, 1990) and a Broadway play (2018)? (The original "pretty woman," by the way, was Orbison's first wife, Claudette, 1941-1966.) And our second 45 is Monument Records ("The Nashville Sound") 45-461, "Mama / The Crowd," from 1962, grades good to very-good. Two Roy Orbison early '60s 45 rpm singles for one price, now reduced from $20.
