Der britische Schlagersänger, Rundfunk- und Fernsehmoderator und Schauspieler (1928-2013) wurde 1948 Mitarbeiter des BFN (British Forces Network - Radiosender der britischen Besatzungsarmee) und kam nach Deutschland. Da er hier großen Erfolg hatte blieb er in Deutschland und lebte auch zumeist hier. 1952 wurde er Discjockey beim NWDR (später WDR) und gab sich selbst den Spitznamen "Heinrich Pumpernickel". 1953 wirkte er erstmals in einem Fernsehfilm als Sänger mit, dem zahlreiche weitere Fernseh- und Kinofilme folgten. Karriere-Höhepunkte waren sicherlich die Rollen in einigen Karl May-Filmen, bei denen er schrullige Typen wie Lord Tuff-Tuff (Winnetou I) oder den Butler Archie (Der Schut u.a.) spielte. Besonders bekannt und bei jungen Leuten beliebt wurde er durch die seit 1961 ausgestrahlte Hörfunk-, später Fernsehsendung des WDR "Musik aus Studio B".
