The core of the music is the simplest pentatonic or heptatonic monody that proliferates into two, three and four voices.Instrumentation:for voices or mixed choir (SATB) and organ; Dieses Vokalwerk mit Begleitung von neun Instrumenten ist in 19 Abschnitte gegliedert und in ein- bis vierstimmiger homophoner Satzweise komponiert. Die einstimmigen Abschnitte sind ohne Metrum, die mehrstimmigen Abschnitte in variable Metren unterteilt. Der melismatischen Bewegung der Stimmen wurde kein Text unterlegt, sondern lediglich drei Vokale: i, e und o. Dadurch wird die absolute Reinheit des Gesanges bewahrt ohne Einfluss unterschiedlicher textlicher Bilder, ohne Verzerrung durch sprachliche Konsonanten-Reibungen. Über nur ein einziges Bild wird minutenlang musikalisch meditiert: Über das Weinen an den Wassern zu Babel. (G. Kahowez).
