Ellen Terry was perhaps that most famous actress in the UK during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, performing various Shakespeare plays with Henry Irving for a substantial period of time. The famous actress and Shaw, the famous playwright, maintained a correspondence from 1892 to 1920. The letters, gathered after Ms. Terry's death, follow a lengthy Preface by Shaw and a short Introductory Note by the editor, Christopher St. John. Shaw concludes the Preface with the following comment: "Let those who may complain that it was all on paper remember that only on paper has humanity yet achieved glory, beauty, truth, knowledge, virtue, and abiding love." NOTE: This is a heavy book, weighing 871 grams / 30.6 ounces, and, when packaged, will require extra postage for international shipment.
