He acted as an advisor to the Ministry of Health in the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Wladyslaw Kulczynski (1854-1919) was Professor of Zoology at the University of Cracow, and member of the Academy of Science of Cracow. He was one of the great arachnologists of his time.
