OCLC cites several CCC "A Handbook for Enrollees" which appear to be different publications; OCLC #17371382 seems to match this specific handbook but the catalog entry for the single institutional copy at New York State Library does not mention the aforementioned text fault. Spot or two of soiling to interior leaves which, overall, remain clean. Touch of rust to staples to but binding is firm.

"Pat" Enright (1879-1969) who, in the 1920s and early 1930s, worked for the New York Evening World and the New York American thereafter working for the Miami Herald from 1933-1943 and the Palm Beach Post from 1943-1948. Interior content mostly comprised of 1932 photos on versos juxtaposed against 1936 images on opposing rectos as a then-versus-now evidence of American economic improvements presumably printed in advance the 1936 federal elections. The left-side 1932 images show strife-ridden scenes of unemployed WWI American Expeditionary Forces (AEF) veterans during events of the 1932 Great Bonus March on Washington, DC whereas the right-side 1936 images show veterans enrolled in WPA and CCC public works projects such as levee construction, national forest improvements, flood assistance, etc. Bottom binding staple appears to be missing; center and top staples have varying rust but binding is holding. OCLC locates copies at four member institutions.

Folder and 43 cards are two hole punched so that rings (which are not present) could bind the cards allowing for quick flip-over reference; 11 cards do not have hole punches - coincidently the folder holes align quite nicely with the 43 cards but do not align wh…en the other eleven are inserted so perhaps those were added as a later lagniappe. Light ring impression to at top left hole of Introduction card but otherwise cards are quite clean and evidently never suffered the ill effects of a sloppy mess hall kitchen. Most but not all cards have a Kellogg product (i.e. Corn Flakes, Pep, Rice Krispies, Whole Wheat Biscuit, etc.) in a recipe or a menu selection. Summer and Fall menu cards at rear (none for Winter or Spring). OCLC locates copies at two member institutions but evidently both are Winter/Spring Menu versions and not Summer/Fall. Acquired via an intermediary from the remarkable collection of Alabama archaeologist and CCC historian Robert Pasquill Jr.

From the Nebraska Historical Society: "While most CCC camps enrolled young men, Camp Platte's Company 1782V consisted of World War I veterans and a few Spanish-American War veterans whose average age was… 46. Throughout the 1930s the men planted trees and grasses and built terraces and check dams to help control soil erosion in Platte and Colfax counties. The camp was built near the Groteluschen farm primarily due to a nearby artesian well, which was credited for the excellent health the middle-aged veterans enjoyed. Recognizing the men's previous military service, the camp newsletter was named the "Veterans Company Chronicle." There are around 100 issues of the newsletter. The first issue is dated January, 1935 and the last December, 1941. The first issues are monthly, then weekly, then every other week and finally monthly again. The very first issue (December, 1934) is lacking. There may be other issues lacking, but this is certainly the compilation of one of the camp officials, perhaps the official collection of the camp. OCLC notes that the Nebraska Historical Society has microfilmed copies (including the first issue), but may lack some issues found in this collection.Some toning and wear. All of the issues bound together with a military style clip which I remember well from my Army days.
