Mademoiselle Clairon debütierte als Soubrette im Alter von 13 Jahren in der italienischen Komödie, trat auch als Tänzerin in der Oper auf und war von 1743-65 ein Star der Comédie Française. Von 1769-86 lebte sie als Geliebte des Markgrafen Alexander von Ansbach auf Schloss Triesdorf…. Ihre Memoiren sind besonders interessant wegen der vielen Reflexionen über Schauspielkunst und über die Rollen, die ihren Ruhm begründeten. Ihre großen Erfolge errang sie als Darstellerin Voltairscher Dramen, die sie zum ersten Mal im historischen Kostüm spielte. Titelblatt mit Stempel, kaum gebräunt, insgesamt sehr sauber und durchgehend wohlerhalten. Vorderes Einbandgelenk etwas angerissen im oberen Drittel, jedoch noch in guter Funktion.
