Aggiungi al carrellohardcover. Condizione: very good. London, Benn 1929. Large octavo publisher's cloth; 365pp & illustrated adverts, numerous photo illustrations, diagrams, measured drawings &c (one folding). A signed presentation from Henderson to G.D. Clapperton. First edition, a couple more followed. A solid technical account of materials, treatment and machinery written to encompass the 'amazing advances in the technique of paper-making during the last decade'. It remained the standard work for the next three decades. The paper making Clapperton and Henderson dynasties remain unplumbed by me. A Clapperton and a Henderson, both sons of neighbouring papermakers, worked for Cowans in Edinburgh and died in the first world war. Is G.D. the earlier generation's George whose 'Practical Paper-Making' was published in its last edition revised by R.H. this same year? And I doubt that it is any coincidence that Clapperton's second name is Henderson. *This item might cost more to post than quoted by abe.
