Aggiungi al carrelloPerfect bound in paper wrappers with French flaps, housed in a foldout, die-cut box, 8 x 8 in., with a gold foil origami crane tipped onto interior box flap. Per the included artist's statement: "I am a black woman. I am an artist. This book evolved from a project for which I folded origami cranes from pages of white supremacist…books for the exhibition, Speaking Volumes: Transforming Hate. [.] In Transforming Hate: An Artist's Book, I was trying to look at what it was like for me to turn the hateful words of the white supremacist books into a beautiful art object." This copy is from the library of the poet, activist, and IKON magazine publisher Susan Sherman, with a printed letter on origami-crane letterhead signed by Sligh laid in, thanking Sherman for her support of the project. This is from an edition of 1000 copies designed by Susan Rhew Design, Inc. and printed by Blue Ridge Printing on McCoy Silk White 100lb cover stock, with endpapers and text inserts on 80lb Text CTI Aspire Petallics Gold Ore. Case stock is 98lb Cover Aspire Petallics Gold Ore. Bound by BirdTech. Book and box are near fine, with only slight evidence of handling. Letter is very good plus, folded once with some minor staining on the verso at the crease. An important artist's book and wonderful association.
