Map present is plan no.1, a large folding colour map of lots 1-95. Card covers, slight damage at the head and tail of the spine. 15,624 acres (about 3 square miles) is a huge area of land, nearly 1% of the county of Devon. This is one of the largest land sales ever held in England. The sale was necessary to pay death duties, and was held at the Town Hall in Great Torrington over 4 days in October 1958.
