Hardcover. Condizione: Near Fine. Lucy Doane and K.W. Berry (illustratore). 1st Edition. First Edition (Putnam: NAP). This is a quite rare Putnam First edition of Robin by Bertha B. and Ernest Cobb. As you can see from the photographs, the covers of this book have held up remarkably well. There is only the very least amount of handling soiling. There's very little wear, a light vertical crease on the spine, slight crinkling at the spine ends. Surprisingly, the corners and the edges are all unworn. The book is very solidly bound. The interior of the book is in excellent condition. The pages are exceptionally clean and actually quite bright. I turned over every page in the book (225) and found a total of three small spots of soiling. There are also three or four consecutive pages with a light crease at their top corner. Other than that, the pages look perfect. You can see that a penciled name on the illustrated first front end paper (the inside covers and endpapers are silhouette illustrations) was erased because the penciling was done with enough pressure to leave an imprint of the letters. There is no other extraneous writing to be found anywhere else in the book. Nor are there any markings in the book. And there are no attachments, this is NOT an ex-library book. There are 23 beautiful full-page black-and-white silhouette illustrations created by the artist and educator Lucy Doane. They are quite beautiful.

Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Very good condition textured maroon boards with black and green front cover illustration and black front cover lettering. Includes a fine condition 5 1/2 inch by 4 1/2 inch vintage typed lyrics sheet entitled "Little Feet May Follow Jesus" which is neatly affixed to the inner front board. Also includes Publisher's Note. " "Childhood Songs" has been prepared to meet a demand for a first-class book for the primary department in Sunday-schools and for home use among the little folks. It is the outgrowth, in great part, of an experience of several years in primary work. Most of its melodies have been subjected to practical tests which have demonstrated their adaptedness to the powers and tastes of little children. As will be seen, these melodies align themselves with the newer music of the day. They will be found on trial to be as simple as they are sweet and harmonious. Great attention has been given to the words as well as to the music. The hymns are within the comprehension of the youngest child, but the truths and sentiments they express are of the highest order and in the best form. The editors have done their utmost to combine variety with excellence. It is believed that there is not a single page which will not be found available and helpful." - excerpt from the Publisher's Note.
