A three-page contemporary history of the earthquake, followed by 30 full-page illustrations of damaged buildings, with descriptive captions including the estimated dollar value of damage to each. The book is 9" high by 7 3/4" wide. The covers are holding, but about 2/3 of the spine has separated. This book was apparently stored in a damp place (rather than being directly damped), as the images uniformly show a pinkish tinge to the background, presumed from moisture. Two sets of facing pages also show light rubbing as from adhesion, but no significant scuffing or image loss. The covers state that this item was originally distributed by Johnston, Crews & Co., Jobbers of Dry Goods and Notions in Charleston. No date of publication, but apparently c.1886. Book.…
