Of the architects who made Palm Springs a crucible of midcentury American modernism, William F. Cody (1916-1978) was one of the most prolific, diverse, and iconic. Buch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware - In seiner Serie Noblesse Hybridige mischt der koreanische Künstler Cody Choi Blattwerk aus Rokoko-Gemälden mit Naturmotiven des traditionellen Sagunja-Stils. Er überlagert die Details, druckt sie auf Marmor und fügt dann den letzten Finish mit Öl- und Cashewfarben hinzu, was die Dekorativität der Arbeiten gleichzeitig übertreibt und unterminiert. Diese Inszenierung der Gegensätze hat auch einen biografischen Hintergrund: In Südkorea geboren und aufgewachsen, emigriert Choi Mitte der 1980er Jahre nach Los Angeles, wo er sich mit Konzeptkunst beschäftigt (u. a. bei Mike Kelley). Ein Jahrzehnt später kehrt er in das stark veränderte Seoul zurück.
