Condizione: Very Good. Hardcover in a bright dust jacket, 112 pages. There's English, of course, and Hebrew, and let's not forget Yiddish and Ladino. But the language Jews have mastered is saying one thing and meaning another. And after a while, everyone understands the real meaning of the "lie." Esther Cohen has been listening all her life. She's written down what she's heard, and the result is this small book with a big punch: the first ever list of these subtle (sort of), sly (very), and hilarious Jewish "lies." New Yorker cartoonist Roz Chast is a master interpreter of lies herself--bringing this particular set to life in her inimitably quirky style. Don't Mind Me is a unique compilation of all-too-familiar phrases guaranteed to make you smile. Clean copy. Record # 472247. Roz Chast (illustratore). …

Paperback. Condizione: Good. 1984 Rassegna large format Italian/English dual language paperback edition. Light reading wear else very good condition. Contributors: Jean-Louis Cohen, Maria Rovigatti, Pierre Pinon, Aloise Lagier, Alain Charre, Michel Roz, Tobia Scarpa, Afra Scarpa, Mario Bellini From the cover: Although Tony Garnier holds a prominent position in the historical and critical literature on modern history of these two latest decades, he still remains a strangely obscure figure. Apart from a short-lived episode going back to over 15 years ago, the analyses of his production never had the necessary critical detachment nor did they attempt to go deeper inside his creative process. This issue of 'Rassegna' cannot be expected to fill at one go the gaps left by generations of historians, but, starting from the assumption that the questions raised by Garnier are of paramount importance in the chronicle of modern architecture, to which he supplied both the model of a city and its components, it will try to bring forth new analyses and material. It is the too simple image of an iconoclastic Garnier, who with his 1901 'Cite Industrielle' stirs up subversion against the Academie, which should be put back into perspective considering the history of the envois de Rome. And it is his very urban Utopia, generally considered as the 'founder' since it was dated 1901, which should be reconsidered as its architectural form proves to be unquestionably later than his Lyons' designs of 1904-14. And finally, it is his 'Great Works' in Lyons which will be made more understandable in their inner story and variations. Sunk into a melancholy which drives him back to the Mediterranean roots of his projects, once they are being implemented, Garnier seems no longer to be up to the strength of the architectural images of modern technique he had conceived before the First World War: it is also this graphic drifting towards the nostalgia of a southern Eden which should be taken into account to assess Garnier's role in the imaginary of twentieth century architecture. Jean-Louis Cohen and Michel Roz.…

Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. nach der Bestellung gedruckt Neuware - Printed after ordering - What if your next great hire isn't the one with the perfect résumé. but the one who feels like they belong In The Engagement Dilemma: How to Create a Culture of Belonging, Dr. Rosalind Cohen flips the script on traditional hiring practices and delivers a refreshingly honest look at what really drives performance, retention, and team culture. Spoiler: it's not stock options, ping pong tables, or corporate slogans.Drawing from 25+ years in HR and her own doctoral research on inclusive leadership, Cohen shows how most companies are asking the wrong questions and hiring the wrong people for the right jobs. Through candid stories, research-backed insights, and laugh-out-loud observations from the front lines, she unpacks how to:Attract candidates who actually want to grow with your teamDitch the 'culture fit' trap and hire for contribution, not conformityRethink outdated job descriptions and interview processesTrain managers to foster trust, belonging, and real engagementBuild a workplace where people feel seen, heard, and valuedWhether you're an HR pro, team leader, or executive tired of revolving-door hires, Hiring for Engagement is your practical, punchy guide to building teams that thrive, not just survive. If you're ready to stop hiring for convenience and start hiring for connection, this is the book you've been waiting for.Dr. Rosalind F. Cohen, SPHR, SHRM-SCP, is a New York native who's spent over 25 years figuring out why workplaces can be so wonderfully terrible-and more importantly, how to fix them. After moving around the country more times than she cares to count (seriously, the boxes never fully got unpacked), she became something of an expert on belonging and connection. Turns out, all that searching for 'home' was excellent preparation for helping organizations create places where people actually want to work.Currently serving as Chief People Officer at Laird Norton Wetherby, she leads with curiosity and empathy to build cultures where team members feel valued for their unique contributions.…
