Rivista / Giornale
Periodical. Condizione: Near Fine. (Nos. 99, 100, 101). [issues 99 and 100 are as-new, with no discernible wear; issue 101 has a soft vertical crease down the middle, almost as though someone started to fold it fully in half lengthwise, but didn't really commit to the act]. (B&W photographs) Three issues of this British fanzine devoted to B-Western movies and movie stars. Stars featured on the covers of these issues (with accompanying stories within) are Ted Wells (#99), Roy Rogers (#100), and Fred Humes (#101). All issues are printed on nice slick paper; #99 and #100 are 32 pages in length (including covers), #101 is 28 pages. In addition to their featured articles, all contain news about film festivals and fan gatherings, the whereabouts and activities of still-living performers from the old days, ads, etc. And if your response to 2/3 of the cover subjects noted above was "Who?", this probably isn't the publication for you. (NOTE that the usual kind of publication data one hopes for in a periodical is pretty scanty; it's noted in issue #100 that it was published "twice a year," but that can't have always been the case. OCLC records are pretty scanty -- only four libraries are recorded as having any holdings at all -- but are enough to establish that it began in 1970 as a bi-monthly publication, and the catalog record of the Margaret Herrick Library has this informative note: "[It] was originally published by Dave Rowlands in 1970 as a newsletter for fans of western films. By 1974 Mark Fiori and Bill McDowell are editing the newsletter and sometime in 1976 Colin Momber joins the editorial staff and is listed as publisher. The format changes from photocopied newsletters to pamphlet in the mid-1970s.".
