Aggiungi al carrelloHardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Brown boards lettered in black & red, frontispiece & in-text illustrations, 61 pp. Fifth edition. Spine professionally restored, a 1963 clipping about Chow tipped in to rear endpapers. Gin Chow is an oddity, and I'd love to see a modern biography of him. Right during the yellow peril, he becomes… famous as a fortune teller--specifically about rain forecasting. He additionally was the plaintiff in one of California's seminal water rights lawsuits.

Aggiungi al carrelloOctavo. 154 pages. Illustrated in black and white. Like the Bohemian Club of San Francisco, the Rancheros Visitadores was a club that catered to the movers and shakers of Southern California, who were among the most affluent or the well recognized artists (such as Ed Borein (page 27) and Frank Tenney Johnson (page 71) or the act…or Leo Carillo (page 33). It allowed its members who loved the West to go out and live the life of the cowboy, whether executives at the Bank of America or those who had sizeable cattle ranches. Also, it had those well-known from the rodeo world such as Tex Austin, Vern Elliot, and with 183 short biographies with pictures of those who were part of this club: bankers, cinematographers, doctors, and a variety of business leaders all who loved the "treks" where they rode into the desert, camped, and lived a life apart from their everyday life in the exciting growth of Santa Barbara. Profusely illustrated with full-page pictures identified only by their "cowboy" names. One of the rarest items on their activities though other years were issued, they were all much smaller and less ambitious in their content. Some damp staining in lower edge of pages, verso of title page once stuck together at some point, spiral binding with the RV brand on the front cover. Added to this item is a collection of nine Rancheros Visitadores dated 1951, 53, 53, 55 and 57 with one compiled from 1930-1950. A very nice collection. See pictures.
