Aggiungi al carrelloLimited edition of 450 sets, of which this is one of 400 bound in brown cloth. 2 vols, brown cloth, 4to, 26 cm, xlv, 554 + 555-1067 pp, 62 plates containing 92 facs. 14,400 entries. A valuable catalogue which includes careful notes of the provenance of important items. From the introduction: "The collection of books formerly in…the library of Britwell Court, Buckinghamshire, having been dispersed, there has been a widely expressed desire for some lasting record of its contents. This Handlist, or short-title catalogue, has accordingly been compiled from the records of the principal books disposed of at the various sales between 1900 and 1927, in the hope of creating a permanent and useful addition to the literature of Bibliography. The books registered in the Handlist comprise some of the rarest and most interesting works both of English and foreign authors, from the time of Caxton to the year 1800. Among the earlier books there are many which are unique; while of those printed after the year 1600, a large number have been hitherto undescribed. Despite the brevity of its entries, this catalogue may therefore be found a useful work of reference both by the student and the bibliophile." The 14,400 entries are arranged alphabetically by author or subject, and include short title, date of sale, lot number and price realised (except for books sold by private treaty or together in lots), with list of former owners, where known. Corners bumped, covers a little rubbed, occasional miinor spotting to contents, otherwise Good.
