From 2001 to 2004, he took part in the Comitato Scientifico della Galleria d'Arte Moderna di Bologna. He was jury foreman of the Hasselblad Award 2004, in which he already took part in 2003. He was curator of the collection of Fondazione Sella di Biella, between 2002 and 2006, and curator of photography at Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa di Venezia, from 2006 to 2008. In 2007, Filippo Maggia was nominated chief curator of Fondazione Fotografia and of the contemporary photographic collections of the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Modena.
