When Doctor Fitzroy Norman, the Lone Rider, rode into the town of Gayler Wells, he was met by a conspiracy of scared silence. It did not take him long to find out what - and who -- was responsible. Chester Kane, swindler, rustler, gambler, and blackmailer lorded it ruthlessly over Gayler Wells and the surrounding district, hated by all decent citizens, but too powerful and too much feared for anyone to challenge him, until Doc Norman's arrival on the scene. Kane, the Doc decided contemptuously, was not worth more than twenty-four hours of any good man's time - and that was as long as it took him to rid the place of his evil power once and for all.

Book tips and spine ends still sharp. Text is tight and bright with a hint of foxing at head of 191 page block. Backstrip is lightly sunned and a tad splotchy. No date given in the book, circa 1960. Plain cream colored rear dj panel shows super light surface soil and lists five other Western Book Club selections. The canyon echoed with the roar of guns when the Box K riders caught up with the rustlers. In the fight that followed a stranger was involved. He was Doc Norman (The Lone Rider) who had been making his way to the town of Gopher Springs. He took a vigorous part in this battle of the range war, and when he was wounded, he was carried away unconscious, to be nursed by a harassed girl rancher. Though handicapped by his wound, he was soon back in action, fighting to a finish against the rustlers who ruled the range around the prairie town. This story tells of the strange bargain made by the patient with his nurse and hostess, and of much hard riding, quick shooting and the heart stopping duel between the Lone Rider and the master-gunman who had been hired to kill him.

Book Club Edition. *** CONDITION: This book is in fair condition but dust jacket is not included. *** ABOUT THIS BOOK: Doc Norman, the Lone Rider, turned down the offer of a princely price for the horse he loved. That characteristic refusal had unexpected results. Soon Fitzroy Norman, chivalrous aristocrat of the ranges, was riding to right an old injustice. His task was to seek out a band of criminals, including a woman who had graduated from dance halls and gambling saloons to an unexpected career. And then he had to transform the crude plan of a much-wronged man into a just fitting of punishment to crime. In a situation that looked hopeless the Trouble Doctor was at his best. He showed what a man can do with a good horse under him, speed on the draw and a first-class mind, trained in years of cattle country crises. And this time - strangely for a foot-loose rider - he had at his command vast wealth. *** Quantity Available: 1. Category: Fiction; Action & Adventure; Inventory No: 07050014. Plain cream colored rear dj panel shows light even surface soil and a 1/2" closed tear and creases and lists five other Western Book Club selections. Hotbed was in the throes of a boom: at nights it was twice as noisy as day: wagons jammed the streets. In the saloons a colourful crowd of reckless men drank the town dry. Buffalo hunters, mule skinners, miners and railroad workers squandered their dollars, gambled, drank and shot out their quarrels. It was little wonder that a lawless element arose to cash in on this ripe situation. In desperation, Doc Norman was sent for - The Trouble Doctor. He was a strange man, and solitary, but he was their last hope.
