Ognuna delle installazioni è composta da elementi modulari azionati da motori elettrici che producono suoni o ritmi ricorrenti. Le opere così realizzate sono in bilico fra creazione naturale e invenzione dell'ingegno, fra studio e caso, fra geometria e astrazione. Esse appaiono come affascinanti creature naturali tanto che chi le osserva è indotto a cercare il principio logico che ne governa il funzionamento come si trovasse di fronte a un nuovo fenomeno della natura.Villa Manin non è una semplice cornice delle opere. Le creazioni ospitate nelle sale dialogano con l'architettura, con gli stucchi e con gli affreschi alle pareti, così come con i rumori del parco. Le decorazioni della dimora di Passariano sono caratterizzate da forme geometriche ricorrenti che trovano un rimando negli elementi ripetitivi delle installazioni, mentre i profili sinuosi degli stucchi e i colori degli affreschi esaltano per contrasto il carattere modulare e i toni trattenuti delle opere.I battiti, i ronzii, le pulsazioni e i ticchettii prodotti dalle installazioni si confondono con i rumori della natura provenienti dal parco: i cinguettii degli uccelli, il frinire delle cicale, il fruscio del vento, il tambureggiare della pioggia.L'opera di Zimoun è dunque un'opportunità di riscoperta degli spazi della villa, un modo nuovo per visitarla e per avvicinarsi alla natura che la circonda. Man Ray (1890-1976) was a photographer, painter, and creator of objects, experimental films, and images which were at times enigmatic. This catalog, which presents more than 200 works and compares and contrasts images with biographical details, is divided into three main sections: Man Ray's formative years spent between New York and an artists' colony in Ridgefield, New Jersey; the Paris period; and the period spent between Hollywood and Paris, France-the city he ultimately chose to adopt as his home.
