He uses vibrant color and small details, and many of his works are set in the 1930s and 1940s and involve scenes he remembers from his childhood during the Nazi occupation of Paris.

Includes two inserts: 1) a Newbury Fine Arts retrospective event card with reproduction print, and 2) a four-panel fold-out containing reproduction prints of the "Villes Lointaines" (prints of each of the 5 etchings). The book is a hardcover, with no dust jacket (unsure if it was issued with one or not). The book includes many black-and-white and color prints of Boulanger's work, with accompanying text from Ciardi. The book is in Near Fine condition, very scantly read if ever. Pages are bright, clean, and clear of writing, markings, highlighting, etc. Binding and hinges tight. Ink text on spine rubbing off in spots. Previous price in pencil on ffep. Faded small dampstain on back board fabric fore edge. Back board has a slight warp to it, bending up near the fore edge. Light bump/ding on top edge of front board. Inscribed by Author(s).
