Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. No Jacket. 1st Edition. PUPTENT POETS OF THE STARS AND STRIPES MEDITERRANEAN BY HOGAN & WELSH 1945 SOFTCOVER. I am amazed how many books and publications came out from the troops and the writers who covered them during World War II. Here is another titled: Puptent Poets of the Stars and Stripes Mediterranean and it was compiled by Cpl. Charles A. Hogan & Cpl. John Welsh, III. It was illustrated by Sgt. Stanley Meltzoff and edited by Lt. Ed. Hill. This small soft cover book (6 ¾ x 9 ½ inches, 122 pages) was published by the staff of Stars and Stripes Mediterranean Magazine from their base in Italy dated 1945. The soft covers are decorated with a colorful image of the Mediterranean theatre of the War on the cover and the Unit badges of those who served on the inside. I have added a photo of the Foreword and many of the poems found from cover to cover throughout the book. Condition: This book can only be described as well read. It is in very good condition but has obviously passed through many hands with consequent rubbing of the covers including well-worn corners and spine tips. There are some creases too. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages are generally clean and bright throughout with the exception of page 9 where it was once folded and lightly soiled in the upper right-hand corner. The stapled binding is still intact but appears to have been reglued, perhaps even on several occasions.
