Poor condition. 16 pages. H 21 x L 11.5cm. Dark gray suede covers soiled and tattered at edges with loss particularly along spine and fore-edges, front cover decorated with bright gilt stamped lettering and ship design. Interior pages detached from binding string; toning to leaves with some wear along edges. Ornamental tissue paper between endpapers and the numbered leaves. A poor copy but an early Paul Elder title. Elder operated several bookstores as well as his own publishing company in which he often utilized an Arts & Crafts aesthetic. Elder printed approximately 400 books primarily between 1898 and 1919 initially in association with designer/illustrator Morgan Shepard under the imprint of Elder & Shepard (1898-1903) with successive efforts under the imprint of Paul Elder and Company in conjunction with the skilled printer John Henry Nash.

Hardcover. Condizione: Good. 75pp., 35 mounted plates. Pages are clean and sharp, with affixed artwork likewise. Covers have some edgewear, one board corner worn through, a water stain to bottom front board corner. The burlap binding at spine is not in bad shape; it has some small splits at the corner folds but is not heavily frayed. Some of the cover titling and cover illustration are rubbed out, but a relatively low amount of each. A rustic-looking book that has seen some wear but is solidly intact. Book.
