Father Mike passed away on February 22, 2010 as the result of a tragic accident while serving as pastor at St. Mary Parish in Appleton, Wisconsin. Over 20,000 people expressed their sorrow over losing this beloved shepherd on Father Mike's Caring Bridge site, and his funeral was viewed in 80 countries via satellite. During his ministry, he recognized that Catholics today live in a world that challenges even the most fundamental components of the faith. Susan Littmann was a long time friend of Father Mike O'Rourke. She and her husband served as his co-executors and powers of health at the time of his death.
