Relativamente a este problema, este estudo avalia o nível de posturas prolongadas no local de trabalho em trabalhadores e estudantes de escolas básicas, primárias e ginasiais em Accra-Adenta e também relata a relação entre as DME resultantes de posturas prolongadas e os seus efeitos na Segurança e Saúde no Trabalho (SST). Começou-se por utilizar uma abordagem de amostragem de conveniência para selecionar vinte (20) escolas dos níveis básico, primário e ginasial. Além disso, foi adoptada uma abordagem de amostragem aleatória para selecionar os inquiridos de cada escola. Foi avaliado um total de 421 indivíduos, com idades compreendidas entre os 7 e os 54 anos. Os resultados mostraram que 50% dos sujeitos referiram desconforto físico, sendo os sintomas mais comuns o pescoço (65,4%), o joelho (81,6%) e o ombro (74%). A análise mostrou que os sintomas identificados podem conduzir a perturbações músculo-esqueléticas dos membros superiores. Recomenda-se, por conseguinte, que a sensibilização, a educação e a aplicação dos princípios de ergonomia sejam altamente reforçadas nas escolas básicas, a fim de evitar a ocorrência da maioria das lesões músculo-esqueléticas.

Furthermore, a random sampling approach was adopted to select respondents from each school. A total of 421 subjects ranging in age from 7 to 54 years were evaluated. Results showed that 50 percent of the subjects reported physical discomfort with neck (65.4%), knee (81.6%) and shoulder (74%) symptoms being the most common complaints. Analysis showed that the symptoms identified could lead to upper extremity musculoskeletal disorders. En relación con este problema, el presente estudio evalúa el nivel de posturas prolongadas en el lugar de trabajo en trabajadores y alumnos de escuelas básicas, primarias y secundarias de Accra-Adenta, y también informa sobre la relación entre los TME como resultado de posturas prolongadas y sus efectos sobre la Seguridad y Salud en el Trabajo (SST). En primer lugar se utilizó un método de muestreo por conveniencia para seleccionar veinte (20) escuelas de los niveles básico, primario y secundario. Además, se adoptó un método de muestreo aleatorio para seleccionar a los encuestados de cada escuela. Se evaluó a un total de 421 sujetos de edades comprendidas entre los 7 y los 54 años. Los resultados mostraron que el 50% de los sujetos manifestaron molestias físicas, siendo los síntomas más frecuentes los de cuello (65,4%), rodilla (81,6%) y hombro (74%). Los análisis mostraron que los síntomas identificados podían dar lugar a trastornos musculoesqueléticos de las extremidades superiores.
