CONDITION -- VERY GOOD -- This is a previously owned periodical that remains clean and presentable, with the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR - Surface rub and toning are obvious; weathering to top and spine edge of rear cover; rear cover has a touch of scuffing and some minute 'tea' stains; softly bumped corner tips. Front cover displays nicely. BINDING - Solid. INTERIOR - Clean and free of marking. No writing or signatures.

CONDITION -- GOOD PLUS -- This is a previously owned periodical whose exterior is a bit rough, but with a fairly tight binding, and a clean and unmarked interior, with the following particulars noted : EXTERIOR -- Splitting to foot of spine which has been mended; spine is weathered and darkened; cover display weathering and toning along; a shallow stress crease on the front cover extends to a few initial leaves of the interior; cover displays slight smudging and scattered light spotting (speckling). There is a small damp stain with tide-mark on the text-block fore-edge. BINDING -- The aforementioned mend to the spine, else the binding is solid, with no detached or loose leaves. INTERIOR -- Clean and free of marking.

Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. This April 1932 issue of "Theatre Arts Monthly" is superb for many reasons! It, as always has lots of wonderful photographs, illustrations, and articles. Of special interest are the articles by Boleslavsky and Stark Young. Architectural rendering by Norman Bel Geddes are remarkable, and a few t…heatre sketches by Diego Rivera are very interesting. The issue starts with a handsome portrait of playwright Gerhart Hauptmann, and ends with a lovely photograph of famed actress Mrs. Fiske as Ibsen's Hedda Gabler. "Theatre Arts Monthly" was, for years, one of the leading periodicals dealing with stage design and the problems of dramatic presentations. It was founded as "Theatre Arts Magazine" by Sheldon Warren Cheney, who was a leading author and drama critic. Eventually it's name was changed to "Theatre Arts Monthly". It ran from 1916 to 1964. The magazine's editorial staff supported the Little Theatre Movement and the establishment of the American National Theatre and Academy. It was also very supportive of emerging dramatists and performing artists such as Martha Graham, Eugene O'Neill, and Thorton Wilder. It presented substantial articles devoted to all things theatre, but with an emphasis on production and theatre design. It is a treasure of an issue, with lots of good reading. It's packed with information. We've provided a view of the Table of Contents above, which also includes captions for the many photographs. PLACE : New York & London DATE : April 1932 PHYSICAL DETAILS : Monthly Periodical; Illustrated with halftone plate reproduction of photographs and a few line vignettes; volume pages 261 - 344 (83 pages, plus front and end pages, and various calendered plate leaves); size is approximately 8 1/4" x 11"; decorated orange wraps which have slightly extended edges, stapled and glued; illustrations printed on calendered paper. (I couldn't quite get the cover color adjusted properly in my pictures) CONDITION -- VERY GOOD -- This is a previously owned item which remains clean, intact, and attractive, with the following particulars noted: EXTERIOR : Modest crimping and creasing to edges, softly bumped corners (as per usual). Chipping to head of spine. Surface is clean and displays brightly. BINDING : Solid . No leaves are detached or loose. The issue is completely i.
