Author's seven-line ink inscription "This, the first copy of | 'Southwestern at Memphis' | is for Eva, Rhoda, and Connie - | with love - | Raymond - | Memphis | Sept. 5, 1949" on front free endpaper. Binding is firm. Acquired from the estate of Alabama historian and Huntingdon College professor emerita Dr. Rhoda Coleman Ellison (1904-2005) with the Eva and Connie mentioned in the author's inscription being her Rhoda Ellison's mother Eva Lucille Cooper Ellison (1879-1975) and sister Cornelia Tullis "Connie" Ellison (1907-2003).
