Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. (National Broadcasting Company NBC). Radio Takes to the Road. NBC 1936, 11"x 8.5", 4pp. Thick-ish wrappers. Nicely produced pamphlet which reads like an advertising brochure for folks pushing product on the radio with NBC. Interesting to note that the producers share that the market growth for radio advertising had exploded in the last six years or so in 1931 only 100,000 cars had "receiving sets" and by 1936 the number exploded to 3 million. Nicely designed piece of auto/radio history. Only ONE COPY is located in WorldCat. Scarce. Provenance: Library of Congress, with two of the LC stamps on rear of the front cover and a surplus rubber stamp on the rear outer cover. Nice copy.

Soft cover. Condizione: Good. (Communitarianism. Utopian.) Le Manifeste Communautariste. Paris, Editions du Centre Communautaire. 7.5"x 5.5", 55pp. Original wrappers. Provenance: Library of Congress, with their tiny rubber stamp on the front cover and another lager stamp on the rear of the half-title. Also of note: there's a rubber stamp "purchased for the US Govt IDC" on the title page. IDC was an operation active during World War II the purpose of which was to collect publications from other countries for distribution to U.S. government and research libraries, a mission that involved intelligence and strategic importance during the war. [++] GOOD copy (5/10). "The philosophy of communitarianism originated in the 20th century, but the term "communitarian" was coined in 1841, by John Goodwyn Barmby, a leader of the British Chartist movement, who used it in referring to utopian socialists and other idealists who experimented with communal styles of life. However, it was not until the 1980s that the term "communitarianism" gained currency through association with the work of a small group of political philosophers. Their application of the label "communitarian" was controversial, even among communitarians, because, in the West, the term evokes associations with the ideologies of socialism and collectivism; so, public leaders and some of the academics who champion this school of thought usually avoid the term "communitarian", while still advocating and advancing the ideas of communitarianism."--Wikipedia.

Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Deutsche Wirtschaft, Deutsche Wertpapiere 1941. Published by Dresdener Bank, 15 November 1941. 9.75 x 7.25", 32pp. Charts. Original wrappers. Provenance: Library of Congress, with their rubber stamp on the rear cover. VG condition. One section of the financial aspect of funding the war in WWII. [++] "Controlled Purchasing Power Directed Stock Market; Overview of the Finance and Stock-Market Year 1941." [++] A sample from the work: "More than in the previous year, the German economy in 1941 was shaped by the subordination of all civilian demands to the needs of conducting the war. This applied, of course, also to the area of financing and especially to developments in the securities markets. Here too, all processes and measures were directed toward ensuring that the principles of a wartime-controlled economy could fully prevail." ALSO: "Progressive Consolidation of War Financing." "In contrast to World War I, in this war already from the very beginning roughly half of the wartime financial needs has been covered through taxation. The tax revenue of the Reich rose from 17.7 billion RM in the fiscal year 1938 to 27.2 billion RM in the fiscal year 1940, and is expected to reach, including the war surcharge on corporate tax, approximately 32 billion RM in the current fiscal year. To this are added various administrative revenues, the war tax of communities, the matricular contributions of the Protectorate, and payments toward occupation costs, so that the ordinary income of the Reich (without the most recent expansion of profit-skimming) will rise to approx. 45 billion RM annually." And: "According to recent statements by State Secretary Reinhardt, an increase to as much as 50 billion RM may be expected for the next fiscal year. Offset against expenditures for non-military purposes of roughly 20 billion RM annually of which about 5 billion RM must be calculated for support payments to families of conscripted soldiers around 20 billion RM of military expenses are already covered by current revenues. The rest must be financed through credit. [++] Only one copy of this work is found in WorldCat (Georgetown University Law Library.).
