The story of Princess Elizabeth's 1952 visit to the Tree Tops, a game watching hut built on a large Ficus tree. She was escorted by Col. Jim Corbett of Kumaon fame. It so happened, when the Princess was watching the wildlife, her father, King George VI had passed away in his sleep. As per the royal tradition, this made the princess a queen. The book describes the visit in detail during the mau mau period. Corbett was sufficiently anxious to protect the queen from any possible attack and volunteered himself yo guard her with a rifle by spending the night at the Tree Tops. This 6th and final book was published six months after Corbett's death, prompting Lord Hailey to contribute an excellent biography of Corbett for this book. This volume also features a portrait of Queen Elizabeth, taken shortly after the coronation and a photo reproduction of a visitor's page from the Tree Tops Journal with signatures of all who accompanied the Queen, including Prince Philip, Eric Walker, Pamela Mountbatten, Michael Parker and Jim Corbett. XIV +30 pages, brilliantly illustrated by Raymond Sheppard, very good book in a very good dustjacket.
