The author argues that knowledge of the text's changes are essential to understanding its nuances. Critical commentary in English, with untranslated Spanish quotes; includes a transcription with variants of the 1499 Burgos edition, transcriptions of the 1735 Madrid, 1635 Lisboa, 1750 Cordóba, 1820 Valladolid and 1858 Madrid editions; all in Spanish. Includes physical descriptions of several other editions, 29 in all. Hardcover, full burgundy cloth, gilt titling; as pictured. Light wear to book; no jacket, as issued; appears unread.
