Taschenbuch. Condizione: Neu. Neuware -The International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design (ILAUD) aimed to rethink the city in terms of discourse and pedagogy. It brought prominent architects - including its founder Giancarlo De Carlo and members of Team X - together with teachers and students from Europe and North Am…erica. Together they explored issues such as user participation, building reuse, and eclecticism.ILAUD was a barometer and active shaper of theoretical discussions in urban design and architecture in the1970s and 1980s. Nevertheless, academics have largely overlooked its impact. In this volume, contributors narrate the complex history of the laboratory's early years and explore its archive through their own conceptual, methodological, and geographical expertise. They shed new light on this pivotal experiment in architecture education, eschewing heroic narratives and individuals in favor of multivocal accounts of design pedagogy.; Das International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design (ILAUD) hatte zum Ziel, die Stadt im Hinblick auf Diskurs und Pädagogik neu zu denken. 192 pp. Englisch.

Paperback. Condizione: New. While most studies on the history of architectural theory have been concerned with what has been said and written, this book is concerned with how architecture theory has been created and transmitted.Architecture Thinking across Boundaries looks at architectural theory through the lens of intellectual… history. Eleven original essays explore a variety of themes and contexts, each examining how architectural knowledge has been transferred across social, spatial and disciplinary boundaries - whether through the international circulation of ideas, transdisciplinary exchanges, or transfers from design practice to theory and back again. Dissecting the frictions, transformations and resistances that mark these journeys, the essays in this book reflect upon the myriad routes that architectural knowledge has taken while developing into architectural theory. They critically enquire the interstices - geographical, temporal and epistemological - that lie beyond fixed narratives. They show how unstable, vital and eminently mobile the processes of thinking about architecture have been.

Buch. Condizione: Neu. J. Lode Janssens (b. 1947) is one of Belgium's most idiosyncratic architects and a radical educator. He was co-founder of the experimental studio Atelier Alpha and the Sint-Lucas Werkgemeenschap, a workshop linking architectural education, practice, and research, and operated in close collaboration with ILAUD, the International Laboratory of Architecture and Urban Design. The publication A. J. Lode Janssens 1,47 mbar presents 'The Balloon', an all-but-unknown temporary pneumatic home experiment, built in 1973 in Humbeek, where he lived with his family until 1986. Lode Janssens considered it an uncompromising ephemeral attempt at de-architecturalization and living in harmony with nature: a cave-dwelling, a work-in-progress, an empirical residence.
