The least story 'Death of a Spartan Kingâ, has been revised from a version published as 'Come Home at Last' (1937). It focuses on the intense, rigid and brutal life in ancient Sparta, and explores the psychological and physical pressures placed upon individuals within Spartan society. The other two stories are here published for the first time. This edition is limited to 1000 copies, of which 175 copies numbered 26 to 200 are autographed and bound in quarter leather. This copy is no. 78, with green cloth. (The edition of 175 copies has at least two apparent states: green cloth [early issues] and patterned pale yellow brown cloth [late issues].).…

Peace is Our Answer is a 1950 collection of twelve linocuts by Australian artist and committed peace activist Noel Counihan, inspired by the politics and social hardships he'd experienced during and since the Second World War. They are accompanied by poems by Jack Lindsay, and have prefatory poems by Paul Eluard, Pablo Neruda, and Louis Aragon. Condition: This copy is in very good condition for age. There is an old, small water stain to the covers at the top of the spine but this has not penetrated to the pages. Slight tanning to the covers but they are otherwise in good order. The contents in clean condition and the inner binding secure.…
