Aggiungi al carrelloChateau de Dreveil, 28 July 1824. William "Kitty" Courtenay, 9th Earl of Devon (1768-1835), flamboyant and homosexual patron of the arts, left the family seat at Powderham Castle to live in New York and later in Paris. William Beckford developed a passion for young Courtenay, then in his teens, an episode which led to Beckford's exile. Courtenay escaped his creditors by fleeing to America in 1811. In 1825-1826 he purchased the Château Dreveil in Paris. This letter concerns the chateau's furnishings.
