Hardcover. Condizione: Very Good. Hard cover. Red cloth with gilt titles. Octavo. 399 pages. "Property of U.S.S. Belknap (DLG-26) Wardroom" written in ink inside the front cover. Clean and unmarked with a very tight binding. Very good. U.S.S. Belknap was severely damaged in a collision with the aircraft carrier John F. Kennedy in 1975. A fire broke out on Belknap following the collision, during which her aluminum superstructure collapsed after it was weakened by the heat. Seven sailors were killed on Belknap and one on John F. Kennedy. The tragedy helped persuade the U.S. Navy to pursue all-steel construction in future classes of surface combatants.
