The leaders of the world, smug in their supposed power, ignore the warnings. The warnings are true, and Earth suffers catastrophic damage when the attack from space takes place. The story takes the reader along with the protagonist as he struggles in the aftermath through a destroyed landscape devoid of comfort and teeming with danger, seeking for the woman he loves.
