Prima edizione
First Edition. Deluxe Issue, an out-of-series overrun from the bindery, with no signatures on the colophon, and without the tipped-in original artwork by Bobbie Creeley. Quarto (27.5cm); original paisley-patterned cloth boards and coarse green cloth backstrip, with title label mounted to spine; [8],9-54,[4]pp, with frontispiece and 14 illustrations by Bobbie Creeley on mounted parchment leaves. Faint mustiness, some offsetting to gutters where the illustrations were mounted, else very Near Fine. A striking collaborative work by these two figures associated with the Black Mountain School, and an early publication by the Black Sparrow Press. Several of Eigner's poems first appeared in the pages of Camels Coming Out, Out of Sight, Penny Poems, Flame, Harlequin, Riverrun, Migrant, CONGRESS, Tish, EUPHORIA, and Klacktoveedsedsteen. Uncommon in the deluxe issue. Provenance: From the library of Earle and Larry Gray (of the Earle Gray Bookbinding Company), who bound most of the Black Sparrow Press titles produced between 1967-2001, as well as works by Capricorn, Turtle Island, and various other small presses. Morrow & Cooney 32c.
