Le 20 juillet 1926, il fut arrêté alors qu'il distribuait des tracts en faveur des anarchistes Sacco et Vanzetti. Condamné par défaut, le 27 juin 1927, à quatre mois de prison pour provocation de militaires à la désobéissance, il se constitua prisonnier le 5 septembre et fut écroué à la prison de la Santé à Paris ; du 2 au 10 octobre, il y fit la grève de la faim par solidarité avec les manifestants interpellés lors de la manifestation du 23 août organisée contre l'exécution de Sacco et Vanzetti et qui n'avaient pas été admis au régime politique ; Au moment de cette scission il participa avec sa compagne Simonne Willissek, Kléber Nadaud, Séverin Férandel et Lucien Desnot à l'éphémère Groupe anarchiste autonome de Paris qui regroupait une quinzaine d'anciens membres du XXe arrondissement et qui se réunissait au café « Faisan Doré », 28 rue de Belleville. Il avait également été à l'origine avec sa compagne de la fondation en septembre 1926 de la Jeunesses anarchiste autonome qui regroupera une quarantaine de militants et perdurera jusqu'en 1929. Son domicile du 367 rue des Pyrénées, Paris XXe, figurait en 1935 sur la liste de vérifiactaion de domiciles d'anarchistes de la région parisienne. Louis Louvet anima de nombreux périodiques : l'Éveil des jeunes libertaires, organe de la Fédération des jeunesses anarchistes (1925-1926) qui compta sept numéros ; l'anarchie dont Simonne Larcher fut également l'animatrice (cinquante-deux numéros, 21 avril 1926-avril 1929) ; l'Ennemi du peuple esclave, journal mensuel vendu sur la voie publique au prix modique de dix centimes, pour combattre l'Ami du peuple de Coty et qui compta quatre numéros ; les Causeries populaires, mensuel publié en 1931 et l'Action libre qui parut tous les vingt jours de 1931 à 1935 inclus, journaux envoyés gratuitement aux auditeurs inscrits aux Causeries populaires, qui offraient, outre des articles d'inspiration libertaire, le programme des Causeries et dont le tirage atteignit 7000 exemplaires pour soixante et onze numéros ; Controverse (ci-dessus mentionné) qui compta onze numéros et un supplément de 1932 à 1934 inclus ; Ce qu'il faut dire, d'abord organe intérieur du mouvement "Ce qu'il faut dire", devint public à partir de 1947 (mi-décembre 1944-fin avril 1949, soixante-quatre numéros) ; Les Nouvelles pacifistes, publiées sous les auspices de la Confédération générale pacifiste (neuf numéros de mi-octobre 1949 au 1er avril 1950) ; Contre-Courant, périodique qui compta cent-cinquante cinq numéros, de février 1951 à l'année 1968 où ne parut qu'un seul numéro (quelques numéros furent publiés hors série) ; à partir de novembre 1959, Louvet y publia le Dictionnaire biographique des pionniers et militants anarchistes pacifistes, dictionnaire qui ne dépassa pas la lettre B. Louvet a fait paraître également, sous forme de fascicules trimestriels de cent vingt-huit pages une Histoire mondiale de l'anarchie.
