The Reductions serve as a case study in imagining the noble savage as a symbol of Christian utopia and a challenge to feudal structures. Through texts such as Robinson Crusoe, Gulliver's Travels, and works by Prévost, Montesquieu, and Vico, Cro shows how the figure evolved into a vehicle for political and moral critique.
