Soft cover. Condizione: Very Good. Two papers, cord bound in original wraps 21 x 32cm. iv + 21 + (1); (ii) + 12 + (1) containing 30 documents in English and French with translations. Very good, lightly tanned with a couple of small closed tears, hand numbered to the odd pages 863-903. These trace the Fashoda Incident from 10 Dec… 1897 to 12 Oct 1898 through letters, speeches, and reports, among the remarkable exchanges between Kitchener and Captain Jean-Baptiste Marchand. Marchand had led a small force overland to claim the area for France to undermine British control in Egypt and the Sudan, whilst Kitchener was in the process of defeating the Mahdi.
